This is what your podcast looks like on Twitter.

I did an experiment on my Twitter feed to see how my podcast @homoground looks when linking to various platforms. I posted links to my overall show page as well as to an individual episode on each platform. I wanted to see which platforms included an embeddable player directly in the post itself.

The platforms I tested are: iTunes, Acast, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, RadioPublic, Google Play, Spotify, Overcast, Podyssey, Castbox

I encourage you to do this for your own podcast to see how things look when linked. It will give you insight on how your artwork displays and the information provided based on which platform you’re linking to.

Based on my results, I was very impressed with how the iHeartRadio links display on Twitter. An embedded player is built in for both the show page and individual episodes. It plays right away when you click the play button, unlike Acast, Stitcher and Overcast which makes you click the play button twice before the audio plays.

It was also interesting to note the differing artwork displayed amongst platforms. iTunes, Podyssey and Castbox display the original Homoground logo while the rest show our most recent iteration. This helps me identify which feeds haven’t been updated with the most recent information. For individual episodes Acast, RadioPublic and Spotify included the episode specific image, while the rest just pulled the main show image.

It also made me realize our podcast host, Acast, displays no image for the overall show page; something I will be sure to look into.

Here is an image of my findings when viewed on Desktop.

*UPDATE* I am continuing to add to this thread as people recommend other podcast players/platforms, so please view the direct thread on Twitter for the most recent version of the image below.

*UPDATE: Since posting this article, I realized that the posts look different on desktop vs mobile. The above describes my findings based on the desktop display. Below is how the posts look in my feed when viewed on mobile:

Next up, I will do this same experiment on my Facebook page and report my findings. If you’re interested in reading my results, feel free to follow me! :)
